Bio
Born in Edmonton and educated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Joel Sinclair is a professional Canadian watercolour artist whose paintings are recognized for their spirit, intensity of colour and dramatic sense of energy.  Joel's passion for the varied landscapes of Alberta and Canada has a strong influence on his work, and a focus on capturing the energy inherent in the land creates drama in his striking landscapes. Joel has an energetic and impressive control of the watercolour medium, enabling him to convey a vivid sense of how we play an integral role in the process of creation.
 
Growing up on an acreage deep in the country imbued him with a deep love of nature and gave him many opportunities to be presented with the beautiful, diverse and unique aspects of the natural world. From an early age, Joel interacted deeply with the natural environment around him and with the influence of his father, Robert Sinclair, was immersed in the art world and exposed to many modes of creative expression.
In 1992, Joel attended The Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Alberta. With a pursuit in Visual Communications, he left college and started a very successful web design firm. Working with both small and large, well known corporate clientele, his company prospered through the boom and the bust. But after 12 years of successfully melding left and right-brain activity, Joel made the decision to step away from the world of computers and immersed himself in his creativity and spirituality.

Well versed in many modes of creative expression, Joel's medium of choice is watercolour. However photography is also quite prominent in his repertoire.

Joel is also well versed in the fine art of transformational coaching.  As a graduate of the ICF Accredited Core Alignment Coaching program and a member of both the ICF (International Coach Federation) and CAPC (Calgary Association of Professional Coaches), Joel offers services in life, business and relationship coaching.  He is available for in-person, online and remote phone-based coaching sessions. Artist's Statement
"All of life is a spiritual journey, and walking the path of heart allows me to have an intimate and individual relationship with all that is, in both personal and profound ways. My painting is an exploration of this relationship, and an expression of that uniqueness that is so fleeting, yet so profound. Each piece is an expression of heart and what I see/sense in the world when I interact with nature and all that is.
 
Bouncing back and forth somewhere between realism and spiritual based surrealism and symbolism, my main focus is to incorporate the energy that I see and feel into the paintings themselves - and perhaps reveal a glimpse of the power of creation.
 
I love the medium of watercolour, as it possesses a quality of randomness that embodies a lack of control - which mirrors our existence in the world. In other words, there are times when you think you can control it, and there are times when you simply must surrender and go with what it decides to do."
